A team of 5 junior red cross volunteers and 11 National Service Scheme volunteers visited 10 senior citizens/ bed ridden patients in their houses in Kollada today morning ( 9/6/2013 ) as part of palliative work named SAMTHWANASPARSHAM.
They were escorted by SULOCHANA.T,V;SANTHOSH.K.V(Ward Members), AUGUSTINE JOSEPH.A( Palliative Trainer ) ;BAIJU.K.P ( HSST ),LATHABAI.K.R ( J R C TRAINER ),Damodaran Kuthur(Chairman,Adopted Village Project);M.V.SURENDRAN ( Mathrubhumi ),Radhakrishan CK (PROGRAMME OFFICER ).The work which was also a field training programme for the volunteers in measuring B.P and Blood Glucose Level lasted from 10 AM to 1.30 P.M.The volunteers also collected data about the basic requirements provided to the patients.during the visit we have found that some patients lack in basic facilities like bedsheets ,warm clothes/sheets,toilet chair and water bed.
SULOCHANA.T.V,the ward member inaugurated the activity in a meeting presided by AUGUSTINE JOSEPH.A( palliative trainer ) in the morning.The programme officer welcomed the gathering and Thrusha ,JRC volunteer,Mithuna Shaji (NSS Volunteer )spoke on the occasion .Anand .R( voluteer captain extended a vote of thanks.
The patients and their relatives have welcomed the visit enthusiastically.These visits are refreshing moments for the bedridden patients who are forced to be alone in their rooms.We are thinking about a second round visit to provide warm sheets to the needy within a fortnight.
In the evaluation session ,SANTHOSH.K.V( ward member ) and DAMODARAN KOOTHUR ( (Chairman,Adopted Village Project) appreciated the work done by the volunteers as exemplary.
