BIODIVERSITY REGISTER PUBLISHED;THE KEY OF THE NEW HOUSE HANDED OVER

        The key of the new house to Haritha M.K ,a plus one student ,constructed by the NSS Unit of GHSS KAMBALLUR
in collaboration with the other clubs in the school was handed over by Meenakshi Balakrishnan ,the PARAPPA block panchayath president in a function held at the auditorium of the school today.
The panchayath president,JAMES PANTHAMMACKAN presided over the meeting.The Principal Mathew K.D welcomed the gathering.The convener Augustian Joseph A presented a report of the  construction of the house.
PRIYESH.P ,the volunteer captain of the NSS presented a report of the project Paristhithikam (NIRMALAGRAMAM KAMBALLUR ) and the Biodiversity register.Manojkumar.K,the district coordinator of NSS  was  present.

The project Paristhithikam (NIRMALAGRAMAM KAMBALLUR ) by the NSS unit in collaboration with  the Department of Environment  was declared closed by Meenakshi Balakrishnan ,the PARAPPA block panchayath president in the function held at 3 PM in the auditorium of the school today.

      A biodiversity register-THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN THE DISTRICT- prepared by the NSS Unit was published by Tomi Plachery ,the PARAPPA block panchayath vice president in the function held at 3 PM in the auditorium of the school today.The book contains details of flora and fauna in Kamballur.
The ethno knowledge in medicine is also recorded.Most of the plants included in the red list are seen in Kamballur  .The four plants Panthappayin,Jyothismathi,Karimuthukku and Vizhal is an exception.The register referring to  the existence or non existence of 448 plants with their details like English Name,Scientific Name,Habitat creates awareness of biodiversity  in the reader.Afieldbook of medicinal plant is also attached to the BDR.
      The register was prepared based on the data and photo collected by the selected volunteers ot the unit after extensive surveys.The guides were Sajeevan P Kamballur,a local environmentalist ;Biju.P,Asst.Professor ,Govt.College Kasargod,and Josekutty.E.J,Asst.Professor ;Govt.Brennen College ,Thalasseri.
           Shinu Thomas , NSS volunteer and  the School Chairman received the register.Digital copies of the BDR is availble.

          The prizes  to the winners of essay competition on the protection of wetlands conducted by the Kannivayal Thannerthadam Samrakshana Samithi were distributed in the function today.All the three prizes(RS,1001;Rs.751;RS.501) were won by the NSS  volunteers OF OUR SCHOOL.
