Sub: Observance of “Sadbhavana Diwas on 20th August 2012 & Communal Harmony
Fortnight “from 20th August to 3rd September –reg..
As you are aware that the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister of India Shi. Rajiv
Gandhi on 20th August is being observed as “Sadbhavana Diwas” nation-wide every year. The
theme of Sadbhavana is to promote National Integration and Communal Harmony among
people of all religion, languages and regions. To promote this idea further, the fortnight
beginning from 20th August to 3rd September is observed as Communal Harmony
fortnight every year.
Principals / Programme Officers are directed to observe Sadbhavana Diwas on 20th
August 2012 and Communal Harmony Fortnight from 20th August to 3rd September by
organizing appropriate function at unit level and to give wide publicity to organize suitable
programmes and administer the Sadbhavana Pledge on 20th August in all NSS Units.

SADBHAVANA DIWAS PLEDGE
“I take this solemn pledge that I will work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all
the people of India regardless of caste, region, religion or language.
I further pledge that I shall resolve all differences among us through dialogue and
constitutional means without resorting to violence”.
