We congratulate the NSS CELL,KERALA for doing away with paper documentation in the annual reports sought from all the units this academic year.
This one step has saved and will go on saving millions of sheets of paper, and thus in turn, thousands of trees!
We,NSS GHSS KAMBALLUR are proud that we also played a part in this decision by sticking to the campaign
START BLOGGING- SAVE TREES
( SEE OUR POST PUBLISHED IN OCTOBER 2012
http://nssghsskamballur.blogspot.in/2012/10/make-blogs-to-save-trees.html)
.It will be nice if every unit has a blog;and if every district committee has a blog linked to these unit blogs;and if the NSS STATE CELL has a LEADER BLOG which is linked to the district blog, monitoring ,sending and receiving reports sharing of information from unit to the state cell and vice versa., will be fast ,effective and transparent. If some POs,or DPC s find blogging diffficult they can seek help from the HITCs or the students in the school. They might also be given a training in blogging .
A pyramid of blogs closely tconnected to each other will be as in the following structure.
STATE BLOG
DISTRICT BLOGS
UNIT BLOGS
In fact I have already presented this idea in the previous regional meeting of POs held in WYNAD which was immediatelly accepted but not implemented yet.
The following steps will ensure blogging as an effective tool for monitoring and evaluation and thus in turn save millions of sheets of paper, money and time spent for SMS and phone calls
1. Training may be given to POs in Blogging.(A DISTRICTWISE PROGRAMME FOR 3 HOURS WILL BE GOOD ENOUGH)
2.Proper directions may be given to the Principals so that the HITC is assigned to assist the programme officer in BLOGGING as and when necessary.
(The student volunteers can also be assigned as blog editors,a work which they would always love to do.)
3.Every unit must create a blog and intimate it to the NSS CELL and the DPCs.within the first month of the academic year.
4.The DPCs also make sure that there is a blog for the district; linking the unit blogs.
(We have already one such blog in Kasaragod.Pls watch http://nsskasargod.blogspot.in/)
5. Prior directions may be given about the format of the blogs (the pages, links, reports, language etc..)
6.These blogs can be PUBLC OR PRIVATE OR SHARED BETWEEN LIMITED AUDIENCE
as we choose.
The advavtages of this project are many when compared to the limitations and problems.I think wisdom will prevail sooner .
