Biodiversity Park Project
09/07/2012 4 pm - 5 pm :About 20 volunteers made a primary study of one part of the local Kavu ( Akkokavu.) nearby as part of the biodiversity project initiated by the nss unit.Sajeevan.P,Kamballur explained the importance of herbal plants found in the kavu in a demostration class held in the sacred grove.One endangered species of herb ,named Orilathamara was found among the other RARE shrubs in the kavu.It is noted that the kavu must be declared as a heridetery asset and a protected and secured with a wall or fence as there are reports of encroachment as well as cattle grazing.This is turning out to be an important step in the project.
